BIO

Carlos Patino is a Colombian composer, producer, performer, scholar, and music educator. He holds a Doctoral degree in music theory and composition from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, Florida, and a Master of music degree with emphasis in commercial composition from Florida Atlantic University, in Boca Raton, Florida. His work has been recognized by the Florida Atlantic University Graduate College Scholarship, the FAU Provost fellowship, and the FAU Ambassador of the Arts Scholarship.

 

Patino has had different roles in the music industry such as co-producer, post-producer, assistant audio engineer and audio editor for albums such as “Pá Qué Más” by the Quinteto Leopoldo Federico, nominated for the Latin Grammys 2017, “Astor Piazzolla- Legacy” by Tomas Cotik and Tao Lin, released by Naxos records in 2017, nominated for the ICMA International Classical Music Awards 2018, “Teleman: 12 Fantasies for solo violin” by Tomas Cotik, released by Centaur Records on May 2022, Winner of a Silver Medal on the Global Music Awards 2022 Competition, “Bach: The six cello suites”  released by Centaur Records in 2024,  Winner of a Silver Medal on the Global Music Awards 2024 Competition, “PIAZZOLLA Buenos Aires” released by Naxos Records in 2024, Winner of a Silver Medal on the Global Music Awards 2024 Competition, and “Bach Sonatas and partitas for solo violin” by Tomas Cotik, released by Centaur Records in 2020, among others. 

 

Patino is the author of the scholarly music book titled “SOLISTAS – Instrumentos de cuerda pulsada I” published by the Editorial Javeriana in Colombia, featuring compositions for soloist guitar, cuatro, and tiple; the recording of the same project was released by Hoot/Wisdom Recordings in Boca Raton, Florida in 2018. The author, composer and producer of “How Dare You! a musical narrative of global warming problems and solutions” published by ProQuest, with performances in Miami, sponsored by Paxy.org, The Miami Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, The Mountain Valley Spring Water, Resist, and The Plantisserie. 

 

Patino has been awarded the Miami Individual Artist (MIA) grant as an outstanding artist in 2022 and 2023 by the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs. As a composer and producer of the UMTI artistic collective, Patino has had art exhibitions in Brazil, and Colombia. He was a member of a Colombian rock band called Red O’Clock, sharing the stage with artists such as Foster the People, Evanescence, Garbage, Dead Kennedys, Molotov, J Balvin, Andres Cepeda, among others. As a film scorer, he has worked for different documentaries in Argentina, Spain, and Colombia, such as “Siete días para la Gloria – Independiente Santa Fe futbol club” and “El más veces Campeón – Millonarios Futbol Club”.

 

As a music educator, Patino has taught solfege, aural skills, improvisation, composition, and ensemble in different universities and schools such as Florida Atlantic University, Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, Montessori British School, among others. Currently, Patino is working as the music director of the Inna's Hall of Fame recording studio in Cooper City, Florida; a private performing arts conservatory.
